7 Labatt Ave., Toronto, ON, M5A 1Z1
Artists will be asked to send digital versions of up to 10 pieces of art ahead of their session to email@example.com. Artists will be asked to bring 10 pieces of work to the studio for a fuller critique. Artists should be prepared to answer questions about their intention and artistic goal of each piece.
Some artists find it helpful to use a critique session to discuss an art project, concept, series, exhibition, or portfolio. This would be advantageous to ensuring the painting stays on track and reaches the goals of the artist. In these situations, useful dialogue and brainstorming will help clarify the plans. For the most efficient use of time, it is helpful if the artist has determined the outcome of the project and the content they want to convey. The critique will be based on these desired outcomes. If visits in person are not possible, a Skype session can be arranged.
$125 – 90min Session
Critiques help artists better understand how their work is communicating to a larger audience. Impartial, professional critiques will give insight as to what the artist knows or has mastered and what they do not know or haven't mastered. This knowledge helps the artist plan their further development. Regular group critiques help artists absorb opinions of others and learn how to respond to it more fluently and confidently. It will also be very beneficial to hear and see the critiques in elements in the works of others. Group critiques are especially useful if preparing for group art shows or juried exhibitions. As many artists work independently, it is a good way to stay fresh and relevant in your work and in your art community. Participants may bring up to 2 pieces of work.
